Shaant is not open yet. The only personal information this site collects is what you type into the one field on the home page, and this explains exactly what happens to it. It is short because the site does very little.
Who is responsible
Shaant is a project of Centennial Ridges Corp, which is the organisation responsible for the information described here. You can reach us about anything on this page at admin@crc37.org.
Note that shaant.org does not receive email — the domain publishes records saying so, deliberately, so that nothing can convincingly forge mail from it. Write to the address above instead.
What we collect
Only when you submit the waitlist form. Nothing is collected from simply reading the page.
- Your email address. Stored lower-cased.
- The date and time you submitted it.
- Your country — the two-letter code and the country name, as our content delivery network reports it.
- Your device class — one word: mobile, tablet, desktop or tv.
- Your timezone and the language preference your browser sends.
What we deliberately do not collect
These are worth naming, because a site can collect all of them without you noticing and this one chooses not to.
- Your IP address. Our server receives it, as every server does, and never writes it down.
- Your browser’s user-agent string. Only the one-word device class above is kept.
- Your city or any finer location. Country only.
- Cookies. This site sets none, of any kind, ever.
- Analytics. There are none. No page-view tracking, no third-party scripts, no advertising pixels, no session recording. The site loads nothing from any other company’s servers — the fonts are served from shaant.org itself for exactly this reason.
Why we collect it
For one purpose: to send you a single email when Shaant opens. The country, device, timezone and language tell us roughly who is waiting and on what, which shapes what gets built first. That is the whole use.
We will not sell it, rent it, trade it, or use it to advertise to you anywhere else. We will not add you to a newsletter or a drip sequence.
Your consent, and the email we will send
Submitting the form is your express consent to receive that email, under Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation. The message will identify us and will carry a one-click way to unsubscribe.
You can withdraw consent at any time before then, without giving a reason, by writing to admin@crc37.org. Withdrawing means we delete your entry.
Where it is stored
In Amazon Web Services’ Northern Virginia region, in the United States. Access is restricted to the people running the project.
Because the data is held in the United States, it is subject to US law, and US courts and government agencies may in principle be able to compel access to it. We use AWS under contractual terms requiring a comparable level of protection, which is the basis on which Canadian law permits a transfer of this kind. We are telling you this because you should be able to decide with it in front of you.
How long we keep it
Until Shaant opens and we have sent the email we promised, and then for twelve months in case you want to be reached again. After that we delete it. If the project is abandoned, we delete everything rather than leave it sitting somewhere.
Or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first.
Who else sees it
Nobody. It is not shared with, sold to, or disclosed to any third party. Amazon Web Services stores it on our behalf and is contractually bound to process it only on our instructions. We would disclose it if a valid legal order required us to, and not otherwise.
Your rights
Under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, to correct it if it is wrong, or to delete it. One email to admin@crc37.org is enough; there is no form to fill in. We will answer within thirty days and will not charge you.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle a request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area
The site is readable from anywhere, so some of you will be. Our lawful basis for holding your address is your consent, which you may withdraw at any time by the address above. You additionally have the right to a copy of your data in a portable form, to object to processing, and to complain to your national supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Changes
If this changes materially before Shaant opens, and you are on the waitlist, we will tell you rather than quietly update the page. The date at the top is the date of the current version.
